The Natural Safety
- A vital element to the success of Australian Hardboards
is the commitment to providing a safe working environment
for our employees, visitors and sub-contractors. Our goal
of zero lost time in accidents and incidents of risk is
obtained through continuous training and awareness programs,
consultation and improvement procedures that ensures all
staff will pursue excellence in the management of occupational
health and safety issues.
The Natural Environment - Australian Hardboards,
a member of the Australian Greenhouse Challenge, has received
many manufacturing industry awards and has a strong reputation
in environmental management that includes recycling water
and utilisation of sawmill waste. We conduct our business
with due concern for our neighbours and the natural environment.
Our integrated environmental management program ensures
that our environmental obligations, under the regulatory
authority, are met. Water from the press is recycled to
irrigate the pasture area around the manufacturing plant
allowing us to run several hundred head of prime cattle
and a large stand of native eucalypt trees
Hardboard is made from selected species of Eucalyptus hardwood
wood chips sourced from logging and silviculture. The final
product utilises the natural wood glues (lignins) to bond
the fibres and hence has no added glues or resins.
It is our intention to maintain a sustainable, environmentally
responsible business that respects the quality of the environment
and uses resources efficiently. For today’s environmentally
sensitive world allowing the naturally occurring resins
and lignins to bind the wood fibres instead of harsh chemicals
helps improve the quality of the Australian built environment.
